La tercera ronda del campeonato Ibérico se celebro en Valencia. Un torneo que prometía una jornada de futbol gaélico apasionado y duro. NO DEFRAUDÓ.

Barcelona Gaels moved a step closer to securing the Iberian Championship last Saturday, a title that has evaded the Catalan side for the past season. Looking rejuvenated after last month's second round the Gaels quickly set about putting their stamp on proceedings in Valencia.

The third round of games in the 2009 Iberian Championship took place in Valencia, Spain this afternoon.
A light covering of cloud made for perfect football conditions for this round which was eagerly awaited after two previous rounds in Madrid and Barcelona had already given us some great games of football.
A good crowd of spectators came along throughout the day, giving a good atmosphere to the matches, although with a strong home-town bias! The standard of football was not to disappoint them, and it was a great showcase for the sport of Gaelic Football.

Springtime has brought back the spirit and flavors that made the Barcelona Gaelettes champions of the last two Iberian Championships. After a disappointing start to the regional season in the Madrid round, it seems the Gaelettes are starting to recover the essence of their style of play. Madrid Harps ladies team came to Barcelona with the aim of keeping up their amazing record of victories in the Iberia rounds, while Valencia Saint Vincent ladies team were ready to surprise their opponents, and why not, by winning their first regional round.

The Iberian round took place in Barcelona last week. Sporting results were unbeatable - both lads and ladies won their rounds, but I'd like to briefly comment on the organization of the event.
Everyone had to rush but eventually it was worthy the hard work and effort. In my opinion, all the work done prior to the tournament has been very good. Most people were new in the comittee, so we weren't sure how to get it going, but thanks to a joint effort and a high level of understanding within the group, work has been easier. It has not been a piece of cake - don't get me wrong, as problems have been coming up along the way, but we've managed to fix them one by one. |
